I have been trying to look at some of the DR1 data and have run into an issue in finding the spectra in the fits files. For example, I was trying to download the spectrum for TARGETID 39633532481438211. I found the correct data directory (I believe) for this source, but in the spectra-SURVEY-PROGRAM-PIXNUM.fits file, I only see two extensions and neither has the spectrum. From the data model, it seems like there should be additional extensions for the spectrum on each channel. Am I missing something here? Thanks for the help.

I examined spectra-sv1-backup-12171.fits.gz. As far as I can tell all expected extensions are present. Could you describe in a bit more detail how you downloaded and examined this file?

Sorry, I have now realized that I made a mistake. I read over the data model too quickly and did not realize that the spectra are image data. I was opening the files with TOPCAT, so these extensions were not loaded as they were not bintables. Now opening them with e.g. astropy.io.fits, I do indeed see the extensions. Thanks and sorry about that!

Good, glad that was an easy fix.
